It introduces the requirements for each unit of the exam, highlights strategies and techniques for developing the four skills, and provides practical activities to create a motivating and effective learning environment for practising listening, reading, speaking and writing.
Trainees will be able to watch videos of example IELTS lessons and complete associated tasks. They will also gain ideas for using AI, and ways to support independent learning for exam preparation.

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is a globally recognised standard for assessing the English language proficiency of non-native English speakers. It is designed to evaluate how well a person can communicate in English across four key language skills: listening, reading, writing, and speaking.
IELTS exams are available in two test versions: Academic, for individuals applying for higher education or professional registration, and General Training, which is intended for those planning to migrate to an English-speaking country. (This course equips you to prepare students for the Academic test version).
The IELTS is aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), and the scores range from band 1 (non-user) to band 9 (expert user). Candidates receive individual band scores for Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking, and an Overall Band Score on a band scale from 1 to 9.

You can progress through this course at your own pace, watching videos, observing trainers, sharing ideas with peers on discussion boards and completing reflective tasks. There are short quizzes at the end of each unit and a final quiz at the end of the course.

After completing all of the course modules, you will need to take the final test. You will need to achieve a score of 50% or higher to complete the course and receive your digital credential. You can retake the final test up to two times (three attempts in total), and you can revisit any sections of the course to study up on questions that you find difficult.
If you successfully pass the final test, you will immediately receive your digital credential. Your digital credential includes an e-certificate, which can be downloaded and printed, and a credential badge which can be displayed on your social media and LinkedIn profiles, allowing you to showcase your achievements.
