Choosing a qualification

Happy Trinity CertTESOL graduates holding certificates

Employers in language education show a clear preference for applicants who hold recognised TESOL qualifications such as those from Trinity College London. Not only do these qualifications make you a stronger candidate when looking for a teaching position, but rewards and further opportunities are greater for teachers with a recognised teaching certificate.

  • You can take all our Trinity qualifications fully online.
  • You can also take the CertTESOL or DipTESOL as a blended course (part online, part in-person).
  • Whether online or in-person, your Teaching Practice is observed live by a qualified tutor.

Consider where you are on your own teaching journey. Think about your schedule, current academic credentials, ESOL teaching experience, teaching goals and budget, before selecting the right Trinity qualification for you.

Blended vs fully online

You can choose from two study options for the Trinity CertTESOL and Trinity DipTESOL.

1. Blended study option

A blend of online and in-person study. The in-person components, held at our TESOL centre in Sheung Wan, include

  • Teaching Practice sessions and feedback sessions.
  • Tutor supported lesson planning sessions.
  • Selected input sessions.
  • Unlimited access to our centre resources and study room during office hours.

2. Fully online option

If you are unable to attend in-person sessions, you can choose to take the qualification as a fully online course with Teaching Practice and tutor input via Zoom.

High quality e-learning content

Training input on our Trinity qualification courses is divided between self-paced online modules on our learning platform and live online workshops with a tutor.

  • The timetables are designed so that you have time to study the online elements at your own pace before attending a live online workshop with your fellow trainees and tutors.
  • We also schedule additional time during the courses for you to meet with a tutor one-to-one for support with lesson planning and assignments.

Not only will you develop essential skills in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, you will also develop core digital literacy skills that can give you an edge in your future career.

We’ve created high quality online modules using videos, presentations and tasks, to ensure that you get the best possible study experience. In this video, one of our teacher trainers, Laura, explains our approach when adapting the CertTESOL course. You will find the same level of quality and professionalism across all of our courses.
